Bonnie N. Collide, Nine to Five #308

This post was totally inspired by growing up reading one of my fave fantasy series ever, DragonLaaaaaance! :) Yes, it's nerdy and has elves in it, but also some incredibly diverse/strong/evil/naive/powerful female characters, which at the time my 10-year-old brain didn't understand how rare that was. What - a barmaid who becomes a warrior? A spoiled elf princess who trades in her fancy life to lead an army? A sexy ex-girlfriend who rides dragons for the bad guys??

Aaaand I just came upon this post about how DragonLance really needs to get it's film treatment already. AGREED!

T-REX VERSUS DRAGON

Hey guys, I'll be hosting a Making Comics Around a DayJob panel for this year's ComfyCon TOMORROW (Sunday, Nov. 23rd) at 2:00pm with Jeff Zugale and Gordon McAlpin! If you'd like to know how we juggle comics n' jobs, or what the interior of one room in our house looks like, or want to witness Google Hangouts in their purest awkwardness, join us! To view, just follow @ComfyCon on twitter to get the link to the hangout!

... And we're back!

Bonnie's not particular about anything being appropriate ... unless it's about Fall.

Hey if any of y'all will be in the Catonsville area this Thursday night, I'm going to be at UMBC's (my exalted alma mater) Comic Con from 6-10pm in the University Center! Apparently there'll be all sorts of crazy fun comics related events going on, so come on out and we'll treat Thursday night as the new Friday!

If you don't move, Bonnie can't see you.

Your Thursday comic this week will be a bit delayed! I thought I could squeeze it inbetween wedding prep for this weekend, but alas THE WEDDING GODS WILL NOT BE DENIED. Not until they suffocate you with threatened cancellations! Overcharged credit cards! Stuff that won't fit into cars to shuttle to the venue! So much fun!

Anyway, I'll see you guys next week. When I'll be all married and shit. :)

SPECIAL EARLY BONNIE UP, YAAAAAAY.

I just posted this today because somehow I got it done early, and I can never wait to show comics. Never!

------------------

Patreon progress update! The video is all cut together! It is now in the sound stage (you'll find out what that means soon enough!) Maybe it'll be done and up by the end of this week? Maybe I'll be able to show you guys a SNEAK PEEK CLIP before then??

In the meantime, I post some progress sketches and things during the week for Patrons and non-Patrons alike in my activity feed here - check 'em out to see under the hood! Or how the magic happens?

(Spoiler: the magic happens by me drawing lots of circles and then erasing a whole ton)

Cheryl's reaction could also be like one of my favorite lines from Buffy the movie: "Is somebody kidding?"

Patreon progress update! We filmed a lot of super embarrassing stuff this weekend, and are currently editing things together. Skates! Cats! Drawing tables! Can't wait to show you guys!

Bonnie text-speak is only half in words, half highly appropriate emoticons. Oh my god, people don't say "emoticons" anymore, right?

The Patreon video survey EEZ CLOSED! Here are the results:

#1 - Me on skates #2 - My cat Ginger Monster #3 - Fill-in suggestions: Me on skates WITH Ginger Monster, my workspace!

For those who don't know what survey I'm talking about - I filmed a video for my Patreon page this weekend, and I was taking a poll to see what people wanted to see. LUCKILY (I love you guys) they did not vote for "Monica without lipstick". Dodged that bullet.

If you're unfamiliar with Patreon, it's basically a super cool way to directly support an artist whose stuff you dig (here's the page with all the info!). You can contribute monthly amounts that help me keep this comic party going, as well as gives you guys a peek into my process, videos, the latest prints and books I've got, original art - all sorts of fun stuff!

I've actually been meaning to do this for a while, but kept holding off on the video part. I've got it storyboarded and ready to go, but I thought it might be fun to get a little community involvement from you guys from the get-go - because that's the main reason I wanted to do Patreon. To create more interaction betwixt you and me! (and, of course, MORE COMICS)

Click here to check out my Patreon Activity Feed, which I started filling up this week with goodies for patron and non-patrons to see! Thanks everyone! STAY TUNED, this is gonna be awesome!
